China unveils first humanoid robot training base in Shanghai

On Tuesday, China has launched its first humanoid robot training centre in Shanghai's Pudong District. The Humanoid Robot Kylin Training Ground has the goal of advancing robotics across multiple fields, including Artificial Intelligence and machine learning. Currently, it has the capacity to train over 100 robots, and plans to expand up to 1,000 by 2027.

The centre will team up with local robotics companies to collect a massive collection of 10 million high-quality physical data entries by 2025. This collaboration aims to improve the real-world use of humanoid robots in industries like manufacturing and public services.

In a context of an aging population and an increasingly competitive global tech industry, humanoid robots are viewed as a means to address workforce challenges and to drive industrial innovation. By 2030, the Chinese market for humanoid robots is projected to reach a value of €11.35 billion.

Pudong's plan is to introduce its next-generation robot, named "Deep Snake," which incorporates advanced technologies to boost its flexibility and intelligence. The city is scheduled to host the inaugural World Humanoid Robot Sports Games later this year.
