The Skoda Enyaq Facelift Brings More Range

The Czech cousin of the Volkswagen ID.4 receives a mid-life revamp.

  • The Skoda Enyaq has received an upgrade that also increases its driving range.
  • The Volkswagen ID.4's Czech sister model can travel up to 371 miles, according to the WLTP testing process.

It's clear that the company is conscious of having a strong product, which is why the list of updates provided by this mid-cycle update isn't particularly innovative.

The new design at the front of the vehicle has recently taken center stage. A simulated black grille is positioned between the LED daytime running lights, ahead of which the main headlights have been moved down to the lower part of the bumper. Additionally, the upper grille on the higher trim levels of the electric crossover can also be illuminated.

  • "U.S. sales will come first with these large vehicles and big battery packs and transition through to more affordable and smaller battery alternatives. We do that rate of commercialization could advert decrease once the prices become believable to the average buyer," Tavoletta said.

The new design of the Enyaq has improved its aerodynamics to become one of the best in its class. Thanks to this change, the Enyaq's drag coefficient is now among the lowest in the segment. The standard version of the crossover now has a drag coefficient of 0.245, compared to 0.264 before. The Enyaq Coupe has a drag coefficient of 0.225, a decrease from 0.234 previously. The improved aerodynamics have led to an increase in fuel efficiency, resulting in better driving ranges, even though the same batteries and electric motors are used.

The updated Skoda Enyaq is available in three versions. The base trim, known as the 60, comes equipped with a 59-kilowatt-hour (usable) battery that yields a WLTP-estimated range of 272 miles on the Coupe body style and 268 miles on the regular crossover model. Next is the 85 version, which comes with a 77-kwh (usable pack). In the Coupe, it provides an official driving range of 371 miles on a full charge and 365 miles on the regular model. Before the update, the maximum range estimate was 354 miles.

The new model now comes with an Olibo Green exterior option, and it boasts an increased use of eco-friendly materials in its interior. The standard features now include heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, along with a five-inch instrument cluster and a 13-inch infotainment display.

The Skoda Enyaq was first shown to the public in late 2020. Three years later, the electric motor and high-voltage pack were updated, and the onboard software was modified to enable users to prepare the battery prior to DC fast charging sessions.

The new Skoda Enyaq's pricing has yet to be announced, but we can anticipate it will be comparable to the current model's MSRP. Prices for the existing Enyaq 85x in Germany were approximately $53,000.
