China unveils first humanoid robot training base in Shanghai

Image
On Tuesday, China has launched its first humanoid robot training centre in Shanghai's Pudong District. The Humanoid Robot Kylin Training Ground has the goal of advancing robotics across multiple fields, including Artificial Intelligence and machine learning. Currently, it has the capacity to train over 100 robots, and plans to expand up to 1,000 by 2027. The centre will team up with local robotics companies to collect a massive collection of 10 million high-quality physical data entries by 2025. This collaboration aims to improve the real-world use of humanoid robots in industries like manufacturing and public services. In a context of an aging population and an increasingly competitive global tech industry, humanoid robots are viewed as a means to address workforce challenges and to drive industrial innovation. By 2030, the Chinese market for humanoid robots is projected to reach a value of €11.35 billion. Pudong's plan is to introduce its next-generation robot, n...

How Norway became the trailblazer for electric vehicles

Image
Norway established a goal for all new automobiles sold to be electric by 2025, a decade ahead of the European Union. With the aid of subsidies and incentives, the Nordic country is nearing the realization of its goal, so what can others learn from it? Norway has emerged as the paradigm for the shift towards electric vehicles (EVs). Last year, official government statistics indicated that nearly nine out of every ten cars sold were electric. In 2023, which is the most recent year for which data is available, the global adoption rate for electric vehicles was just 18%, according to the International Energy Agency. The Nordic nation has shown remarkable dedication to addressing climate change, instilled by firm government policies, a solid infrastructure framework, and a public densely supportive of the efforts. Norway plans for all new passenger cars sold in the country to be zero-emission vehicles by the end of this year, which places it a decade ahead of its goal to...

How Europe's creating the moon on Earth

Image
Approaching a lunar mission requires incremental advancements, such as Europe's recent LUNA training facility setup. However, they're still short of the target. The subsequent step: installing a moon gravity simulator. If you were to replicate the moon on Earth, you would require three fundamental components: A soil-like substance with a chemical profile akin to lunar soil is present alongside special lighting that replicates the sun's angular placement. In addition, an apparatus is used to mimic the moon's gravitational pull, which is six times weaker than the Earth's gravitational force. A very large container to accommodate everything, much like an enormous metal hangar. By late September 2024, they obtained roughly two-thirds of the entire moon's distinctive landscape. One crucial component was still lacking. Darkness was suddenly illuminated by a spotlight directed at two astronauts clad in full suits - Germany's Matthias Maurer and ...
