China unveils first humanoid robot training base in Shanghai

Image
On Tuesday, China has launched its first humanoid robot training centre in Shanghai's Pudong District. The Humanoid Robot Kylin Training Ground has the goal of advancing robotics across multiple fields, including Artificial Intelligence and machine learning. Currently, it has the capacity to train over 100 robots, and plans to expand up to 1,000 by 2027. The centre will team up with local robotics companies to collect a massive collection of 10 million high-quality physical data entries by 2025. This collaboration aims to improve the real-world use of humanoid robots in industries like manufacturing and public services. In a context of an aging population and an increasingly competitive global tech industry, humanoid robots are viewed as a means to address workforce challenges and to drive industrial innovation. By 2030, the Chinese market for humanoid robots is projected to reach a value of €11.35 billion. Pudong's plan is to introduce its next-generation robot, n...

Borussia Dortmund sack head coach Nuri Sahin

Image
Borussia Dortmund, a prominent Bundesliga club, have officially relieved head coach Nuri Sahin of his duties. This decision comes shortly after the team suffered a fourth consecutive loss. Borussia Dortmund announced in a statement on Wednesday that they have chosen to terminate their contract with their head coach following their fourth loss in as many matches this year, a 2-1 defeat in the Champions League to Bologna. "I find this decision personally disappointing, but it was unavoidable after the game in Bologna," Dortmund managing director Lars Ricken said. There had long been speculation about this move, given Dortmund's recent decline to a 10th place spot in the German top division, a finish that was a far cry from the Champions League regulars they were expected to be. Ricken stated that taking into account that and the fact that Dortmund have only won one of their last nine matches, the board has "lost faith that we can still achieve our s...

Steve Davis was Elon Musk’s chief cost-cutter at X and the Boring Company. DOGE might be his next big project

Image
It was the fall of 2022 when staff at Elon Musk's The Boring Company started noticing Steve Davis was nowhere to be found. It was rarely hard to locate him since he was an extremely driven and seemingly indefatigable manager. For $44 billion, Davis made his way to San Francisco. There, he was seen walking back and forth on the 10th floor of the company's headquarters, constantly calling people on the phone to ask them about which parts of the organization he could eliminate, seemingly without regard for anyone who might be listening. Davis—Musk’s 22nd hire at SpaceX—has earned a reputation as a relentless cost cutter and as one of the select few Musk trusts to get things done. Those who have worked with Davis believe he'd be able to accomplish any task Musk assigns him—even if it seems overly ambitious and may jeopardize the jobs of others. He is planning to run for governor of Ohio. To cut approximately $2 trillion in government spending, or about 30% of ...

Fagan began serving as the 27th Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard on June 1st, 2022. As such, she was responsible for overseein...

The company's salaries fell by 2.3% in the last fiscal year, but may rise in 2025 with the launch of the Switch 2. It's no surprise that one of the biggest names in Japan's gaming industry, known for retaining top talent, pays its developers very high salaries. While Japan has an employee retention rate of about 70 percent, meaning that about three in every ten employees hired by companies leave in less than three years, Nintendo has a rate of 98.9 percent.
